We all have something we do well. I'm an illustrator. It's as simple as that. It's what I do well and love. After graduating high school, I entered the San Francisco Academy of Art on scholarship. During my education I won selection in the Society of Illustrators Student Publication of 1994. Since graduation I have been freelancing in the San Francisco Bay area. I work for agencies, companies, and publications. I have done work for Cycling Magazine, Cellular One, The San Francisco Bay Guardian, and the list goes on. Click Client List to see more. I have done illustrations that are less than one square inch to illustrations that cover a double page spread. Small or large, an illustration is a chance for me to do something unique. To challenge and push my skills to new levels. To bring a different perspective on a subject. From political to humorous, my style of illustration is a characterization and commentary on our society and people. My work is immediate yet subtle, clear yet complicated. I prefer to work with people who have a vision to create something unique. Someone who is open to suggestions and likes to communicate. The best illustrations are a collaboration between the illustrator and the client. I can bring experience, ideas, humor, and a different approach to the table. And when combined with a client's goals, I promise a great illustration that will entertain and inform. So if you are looking for a different type of illustration with a unique edge and feel, and want to work in a creative collaborative atmosphere, call me. Everyone does something well. I'm an illustrator. Andrew Vanderkarr |
